Pearce’s informed and wild use of color is bold and his forms unique. He began painting while working as an editor at the CIA, and studied professionally at The American University (MFA 1971).
After retiring in 1980, he shared a studio with Milton Goldman. Both artists are reprsented in the Katzen Art Center American University Museum collection. Pearce exhibited at The American University, the Landow Gallery at Landon School and other venues from 1991-2011. He was a member of Group 93.
Born in Utica, N.Y., Pearce (1928 -1912) served in the Navy during World War II. He and Frances Benson Pearce lived in McLean with their two children before moving to Arlington, VA. He was a deacon, board member, usher and Sunday school teacher at the Universalist National Memorial Church in Washington.
